With Thompson getting washed out this past week, I only got a report from Seekonk, so here we go.
The Seekonk Sport Trucks started the feature activities for the night. It was a mostly clean race with just a
couple cautions slowing the event. Brian Vincent would jump out to a commanding lead and would lead all but
one lap….of course that one lap would be the one that mattered the most. Mike Cavallaro tracked Vincent and
passed him to take down his 5th win of the year. Vincent would spin himself out of contention coming out of
turn four allowing the whole field to pass him by. Brian Clarke would come in 2nd followed by Billy Prisco, Chad
Hancock, and Lenny Guy.
The ever exciting Streeters were next and they didn’t disappoint anyone, as 3 sometimes 4 wide action would
be the norm. Frank Duquette became the 9th different winner this year in the street stock division. He
overtook the lead just a few laps into the event and would hold off Elmer Wing and Al Clements IV for the win.
Following those across the line would be Joe Melburg and Brian Spillane to complete the top 5.
The Late Models were back in action this week after a week off for the ACT Tour, and they picked up where
they left off, as 9 cautions slowed the event. A combination of false starts, minor spins and a couple accidents
dragged this event along. For having only 18 or so cars out there, they certainly know how to stink up the
place. A scary incident taking the green saw Jon Dickerman spin on the frontstraight only to have Steve Potter
t-bone him in the driver’s door. Dickerman climbed out ok, but Potter was treated by the Rescue personnel and
I assume he is ok. After that start I knew we would be in for a long night with these guys. But in the end it would
be Scott Dion holding off Gerry Degasparre for the win, with Matt Hudon, Mike Becker and Barry Shaw rounding
out the top 5.
The Pro Stocks would end the night and they showed signs of running a green to checker race just like last
week. But just past half way the caution flew for a harmless spin. It all fell apart from there as the yellow flew at
least another 5 times before the race ended. Dean Pettey and Mike Brightman jumped out to the early lead
and both were headed for a good finish until Brightman got into Pettey on lap 35 stacking up the field. A major
wreck ensued with several beaten and battered racecars, including Rob Murray who went over the back of
Dave Darling and then climbed the wall. Also involved were Ray Parent, Len Ellis, John Dabrowski and a few
others. They decided to go to a single file restart (something they should do for the LMs) and Todd
Annarummo overtook Pettey for the lead with a couple laps remaining. Todd went on unchallenged for his 2nd
win of the year. Following him across the stripe would be Tom Scully Jr., Pettey, Scully Sr. and Charlie Rose.
The Pro Stocks get the week off as the True Value Mods come to town. I encourage all to come out to the
Cement Palace and take in this event, should be a good one!!
